Students are expected to demonstrate the following behavior:
Students are always expected to participate
Students strive to always perform at his/her personal best
Students contribute to a safe environment
Students play fairly and respect those around them
Uniform
Proper gym uniform is very important when involved in physical activity. Proper attire will reduce risk of injury and provide a change of clothes for each student’s comfort and hygiene. The Physical Education Safety Guidelines put out by the Department of Education requires students to wear proper clothing to reduce injury when actively participating in physical activities.
A proper gym uniform can include any combination of shorts, sweat pants, nylon pants, stretch pants and sweatshirt or T-shirt. Sneakers must be worn, and tied tightly for support. Each student is required to have a separate change of clothes. Students who are without the proper footwear will be unable to actively participate and not meet the outcomes for that class.
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated on the outcomes set out by the Department of Education for Physical Education. Students will be evaluated on their effort in achieving these outcomes. Rubrics, checklists, self and peer evaluation are some of the tools used to determine how well a student is achieving the outcomes.
Participation: If a student is not an active participant they will be unable to meet the outcomes. It is important if your daughter/son becomes injured or is unable to participate due to a medical condition a note indicating the reason, signed by parent/guardian must be presented so that modified outcomes can be put in place for a successful term.
Students who are not participating must sit in the designated area and complete the work provided.
Important: Valuables Should be in Student’s Lockers. It is strongly advised that students leave all valuables in their locker. The locker rooms are for changing only and will not be locked. It is strongly recommended that students not leave valuables in the locker rooms, they are not safe. Electronic devices are not to be brought to class. (i.e. phones, MP3 players)
Food and drink are not permitted in the gym or the locker rooms.
